Software Techniques Certified To Run On Unisys ES7000 Enterprise Server

WINTER PARK, Florida, September 10, 2001 – Software Techniques, Inc. (STI), the premier provider of computer assisted mass appraisal software, announced today that its CustomCAMA property appraisal software suite has been certified to operate on the Unisys ES7000 enterprise server. The Unisys system runs Microsoft's DataCenter operating system and IBM’s Informix Database. This represents the first CAMA application to be certified under this platform.

The certification was performed at the Unisys testing center in Philadelphia at the request of the Harris County Appraisal District in Houston, Texas, which recently selected STI’s product as its new enterprise software platform.

"With the inclusion of the ES7000 as a deployment platform, we are able to accommodate the very largest appraisal districts on both a Unix and Microsoft NT operating environment,” said Larry Zirbel, president of STI. “More importantly, we proved we could scale our product to fully recalculate as many 2.8 million parcels in less than 6 hours."

STI ran its application using a database of 1.6 million parcels, the approximate size of the Harris County Appraisal District. The Unisys ES7000 was configured with 16 Intel 32bit processors to function as a single database server and another 16 processors were configured to run as 4 separate client machines.

The Unisys ES7000 is regarded as the largest and fastest Intel-based platform available today. The ES7000 can support as many as 32 processors and runs Microsoft’s Advanced Server, Enterprise, or Data Center operating systems. The ES7000 has a multiple domain feature that enables it to separate processor groups and run individual instances of the operating system on each group.

Software Techniques, inc., founded in 1987, is a premier provider of computer assisted mass appraisal software (CAMA), which is used by government property appraisal offices to determine the value of property for taxation purposes. Many other industries use this information routinely, such as banks, mortgage companies and real estate professionals. With offices in Winter Park, Florida, Greensboro, North Carolina and London England, STI also provides software development and network engineering services to both commercial and government clients.
